This is a friendly reminder that FCA can’t product plan for shit.
If you jump back to 2014, FCA was planning a three row Chrysler branded CUV to go head to head against the GM Lambda platform based on the Pacifica’s platform. A year later that got shitcanned.
Next came the news that the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer would be body on frame and based on the Ram 1500 chassis, a true competitor to the Tahoe/Yukon/Sequoia/Armada/Expedition.
And about that same time, the above illustration was shown, believed to be a BOF, Ram-based Chrysler SUV.
It's too bad FCA can't get their shit together.

How are they still in business?
Just cause of Jeep and all the fast Challengers or...?

Jeep and Ram
if everything else went away they would be rolling in money.

And the 300 was to move to the Pacifica platform, then backtracked and said it would stay RWD and move to the Giorgio platform, then maybe it would use an enhanced LX, now it’s canceled entirely.
Challenger and Charger were to move to Giorgio, now upgraded LX. Viper was discontinued, brought back after a few years, discontinued again, then announced to maybe come back in a few years, then absolutely canceled.
Marchionne's problem is he can't wait for a plan to actually be implemented before judging whether it's successful - he decides 15 minutes after the plan is proposed, but before anything concrete has actually been done.

Counterpoint: They don’t have to keep their shit together.
The WK2 is a golden goose, the LX is a fleet special and both have tooling in the double digits of years (thus, cheaper to make). The JL is being touted as a great off road machine, and their RAM 1500 is going to be a success, just like the last generation was. Everything rolls on the fantastic MultiAir technology (so good JLR licensed the same tech), the pentastar is not as bad as people say it is, and the HEMI is good, all those with a reliable ZF transmission.
FCA tried to get their shit together with Alfa Romeo; they made a sedan, and an SUV to sit alongside the exotic 4C, but AR is failing them, so they decided “fuck it” and gave a big hug to the WK2 chasis when they got home.
FCA: A functioning alcoholic that tried AA but didn’t like it.

I thought it was because of Marchinne’s successful stand up career.

Seriously where is the Grand Wagoneer (or other big 3 row suv) to print them money?

Because Chyrsler capital would probably finance my dog into a new car and their largely outdated and irrelevant non-truck line up still sells (see my first point ) for some reason, the tooling has long since been paid for and bros with flatbrim hats by new wranglers financed for 84 months.
